Library restocked

Earlier today I did my annual pre-season clearout of the cupboard and refreshed the selection of books in the library with several donated from the collection of our former chairman Peter Alford. Peter was a firm believer in the power of gambits and aggressive opening play, which shows in some of the new titles now available:

The Quickest Chess Victories of All Time
Romantic Chess Openings
Blackmar-Diemer Gambit

...and several others in the same vein! Also included is the "21st century edition" of Nimzowitsch's classic My System which is more accessible (although the original version is available too for the traditionalists amongst you) and another classic which appears in the library for the first time - Adorjan's Black is OK!

There are many more books which will be made available to club members for a suitable donation. These will be on sale at the club on 2nd October alongside the first round of the club knockout.

Comments

I am a returning chess player and in need of basic update in openings. How do I use library etc.? Clear description of basic lines in new (to me) notation would help.
