Quickplay Knockout

An excellent evening of quick play games last Tuesday with some really good chess.

Next week is the first week of the Knockout proper with the new Fischer time limits to enjoy. I am sure we will all quickly master the clocks!

Last night saw the start of the Quickplay Knockout competition. The aim was to complete at least the first couple of rounds and this was largely completed, with only the top eighth failing to do so as a consequence of the rearranged D Gray - Z Rustom fixture not being played. Indeed, there were a few people keen enough to play their third round matches as well, so we already have one semi-finalist in the main competition and the plate!

Please check them if you have entered, as the first two rounds of the competition are being played next Tuesday!

Last night's quickplay started the season off with real gusto...some players have already reached the semis and some of us managed to begin to remember the moves.

Don't forget that it is the first round of the Knockout next week so the serious chess is about to begin!
