Horsham 1 suffer first defeat of the season

A brief report on a match that happened a couple of weeks back for which the final result has now been agreed. Facing Brighton 1 away, Dix was unavailable which altered our board order again.

Sadly not a good result from our point of view. Mike and Geoff James had an early draw on board 2, but then Phil got his bishop trapped and lost to Paul Batchelor on board 5. I took a draw in a slightly worse position against Callum Brewer on board 3, thinking that one of Gavin or Alex would win as they both stood well.

Unfortunately this didn't materialise, Gavin's excellent pawn-up position against IM Julien Carron unravelled in time trouble whilst Alex's pawn up position vs John Henshaw was found to be unwinnable after adjournment. A 3.5-1.5 defeat overall.
