Horsham 2 score important win

Last Tuesday Horsham 2 picked up an important win in Division 1 of the league over Bexhill 1. I was sub captain in Ian's absence as he visited Alex T in Horsham's Thai expat outpost...

On board 3 Samuel stayed solid with Black on his league debut, his opponent then overextended which Samuel expoited neatly to put us one up. On board 2 a French structure appeared, Aiden emerged with an extra exchange but against an active bishop pair. The complexity of the position told as Howard unfortunately lost on time.

On board 1 I gambited a pawn in the opening which worked out fine but then gave another which was less sound! My opponent then blundered but ended up with 3 pawns for a knight which ended up being easier to handle in the endgame and he converted well. Finally on board 4 James was in trouble out of the opening but managed to consolidate and by the end Black's king was too exposed and went down in the crossfire.

So overall a decent 3-1 win over a team about the same strength as us which (temporarily!) puts the team 2nd in the league...
