Horsham 1 scored an excellent win over Brighton 1 last night.
Horsham's first results were a quiet draw between Mike Forster and Batchelor, and a win for Mark Broom over Luke Rutherford in an unusual reversed Slav that Peter Harbott would have been proud of. Then Gavin Lock won a rather wild game against Callum Brewer, leaving Horsham 2.5-0.5 up. James Mansson was therefore happy to force a draw against Geoffrey James to secure the match; although subsequent analysis suggested his position was winning, the match situation and fact that he was running very short of time drove his decision. Anthony Higgs concluded procedings with a win over Chris Lake in a tough game. Horsham therefore won the match 4-1 and established themselves at the top of the league table.
