James wins Lightning 2022

Our annual tournament of 10-second mayhem was won by James Mansson who beat Mike Forster in a high-quality final...

The club split into two divisions and it was good to see two junior club members and two Collyers players taking part as well to freshen things up.

Mike won his group with 7/8, narrowly ahead of Alex (6.5) and me (6). In the other group the winner was decided by the final group game, James finishing with 7/8 ahead of Mark (6.5) and Chris (6). Particular congratulations to Nayan who scored 5 points in the second group, great stuff!

In the final two good quality games were played with James managing to win with White in the first. The second was a draw after reaching a rook and pawn endgame that Mike could not win so James was the champion for the 6th time according to the tankard engravings, but his first win since 2010!
