Those who were at the club's final session of the season on Tuesday will have heard the sad news that Dick Newman passed away on 29th June aged 102...
Just a reminder that both the adult and junior clubs pause for the summer after the last meeting on Tuesday 5th July. We will return in September, exact date to be advised.

Following our final two matches of the year (against Hastings 2 and Hastings 1), Horsham 2 finished the division 1 season in second to last place. A bit disappointing but with all other teams in the top division except one being first teams, perhaps it is more a case of what might have been when just one half match point more would have left us mid table. It remains to be seen what format will apply next year or how that leaves the team.

Having recently suffered a loss against Horsham 1 as reported by Mark (below), Worthing secured an element of revenge in beating Horsham 2 by 3-1.
First to finish was Peter on board 2. I confess I did not see much of his game, partly because it was all over before the evening had properly begun! His d4 and c3 was mirrored by his opponent and hostilities were abandoned at an early stage with neither side having made any real progress.
We were able to field our strongest team away to Worthing on Monday night, which meant I didn't get into it! Over to Mark B to explain what happened...
