It was great to see everyone back playing competitive chess last night . While most were playing in the Quickplay there was even the first Rook game taking place.
Above all it was great to see competitive chess returning for the first time in too long!

Looking ahead to the next round of the Quick play on 17 December I thought it would be useful to remind us who we will be playing - hopefully we might be able to fit a couple of rounds in!

It was great to see so many new players come along last - big welcome to Guy, James and Harry.
The draw was done for the Quickplay and the Knockout last night. It is the Quickplay next Tuesday with just 15 minutes a game - good fun and a great way to blow off the cobwebs of the summer.
Quick reminder about completing the GDPR form, paying subs and joining the ECF...boring but important!
It really will make James Mansson's job easier as the new treasurer if you can pay promptly and by BACs.
In order to finish the Quickplay Knockout , Anthony Higgs and Brian Donnelly had arranged to play their Semi-Final, then for James Mansson to play the winner all on the same club evening. Anthony overcame Brian 2.5-1.5 in a tightly-contested match, before taking James on in the final.

The final of the Quickplay plate took place on Tuesday between Lucy and Zevon.
The fact that this was fought out between two such talented Juniors is excellent in itself. Our congratulations to Zevon who managed to overcome his higher graded opponent.

Plate:
Pavlovic - Moorhouse ; Warren plays loser of Forster Jr - Donnelly; Harbott - Woodings ; Howard - Barrowclough ...Winner plays A Norton
